New Moon Movie Wolf Pack

Director Chris Weitz and Summit have brought on a cast of American Indian actors to star in the movie New Moon: Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon and Tyson Houseman have been casted to form the ensemble. In Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga, the Wolf Pack take the side of the humans in their fight against the evil breed of vampires.

So Taylor Lautner who plays the role of Jacob Black the werewolf is going to have a few friends:

Chaske Spencer as Sam Uley, the wolf pack leader Sam Uley is the leader of the La Push pack. His father, Joshua Uley, abandoned him and his mother when he was very young. Before becoming a werewolf, he was romantically involved with Leah Clearwater, his high school sweetheart. His relationship with her started to fall apart after his transformation, because he was forbidden to tell Leah what he had become. Their relationship ended when Sam imprinted on Leah's second cousin, Emily, and went back on every promise he had ever made to Leah. According to Jacob, Sam feels guilty for betraying her and responsible for the bitter person Leah has become. When he phases, he is pure black and the largest wolf. He is the pack Alpha, but not by blood; that role is Jacob's, but he allowed Sam to lead the pack.

Tyson Houseman as Quil Ateara, one of Jacob's best friends and an eventual member of the pack. Quil Ateara is a member of the werewolf pack and Jacob's "wingman". He is described as being very muscular. He is only mentioned in passing in the first novel of the series but becomes somewhat of a regular character as of New Moon. Unlike most other members of the pack, he was happy about becoming a werewolf, since it allowed him to finally have his friends back and understand what was going on. As a wolf, Quil has chocolate-brown fur.

Kiowa Gordon as Embry Call, one of Jacob's best friends. Embry Call has gray fur with dark spots on his back, and is another one of Jacob's "wingmen". He appears briefly in New Moon and Eclipse. Embry calls Bella Swan "vampire girl" because she hangs out with the Cullen family. His mother was a woman of the Makah tribe, not the Quileutes; since the werewolf traits are inherited from father to son, he is the half-brother of either Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, or Sam Uley. This causes some stress within the pack, since all of these men's fathers were married before and at the time of his birt

Alex Meraz as Paul, a member of the wolf pack with difficulties with self-control. Paul is prone to angry outbursts which cause him to burst into his wolf form. Paul is one of the bigger wolves, and has dark gray fur. He is the most volatile member of the pack, and becomes so enraged when he learns that Jacob has told Bella about the pack that he turns into a wolf and attempts to attack her. He currently seems to have no ill feelings towards Bella or Jacob.

Bronson Pelletier as Jared, a member of the wolf pack Jared was the first werewolf to phase after the pack's leader, Sam Uley. He is one of the five werewolves to imprint: he imprinted on Kim, a girl he sat next to in class. Before he was a werewolf, he never paid any attention to her. After his transformation, he looked at her once and imprinted.

Tinsel Korey as Emily Young, Sam's fiancée. Emily Young is Sam Uley's fiancée and second cousin to Leah Clearwater. While dating Leah, Sam imprinted upon Emily when she visited and began pursuing her. She is described as having copper skin, raven black hair, and three long disfiguring scars running down the right side of her face and down her arms as the result of Sam phasing into a wolf too close to her. The left side of her face is extremely beautiful, as she was before the scars. Bella feels that Emily is the mother figure to the pack because she cooks all of their meals and they feel very comfortable and open in her house.

New Moon Taylor Lautner as Jacob the Werewolf

You've probably heard of the controversy around the replacement of Taylor Lautner by Michael Copon as Jacob Black in the movie New Moon. The change could have make sense: Jocob should be much taller and stronger in New Moon, where his role is getting much more important as a werewolf. But well, most fans were quite upset by the move.

And Taylor Lautner has been working hard to get more muscles and fit the job.

So Summit Entertainment is finally switching back to Taylor Lautner in the role of Jacob Black the werewolf who is Bella's best friend.

Below some words from Director Chris Weitz:

"[...] I’m very happy to announce that Taylor Lautner will be playing Jacob Black in New Moon and that he’s doing so with the enthusiastic support of Summit Entertainment, the producers, and Stephenie Meyer.

The characters in Stephenie’s books go through extraordinary changes of circumstance and also appearance; so it is not surprising that there has been speculation about whether the same actor would portray a character who changes in so many surprising ways throughout the series. But it was my first instinct that Taylor was, is, and should be Jacob, and that the books would be best served by the actor who is emotionally right for the part. I think that fans of Twilight the book and the movie will be surprised by the Jacob Black that Taylor will bring to the screen in New Moon; and I’m looking forward to working with him and the rest of the cast in realizing the film.[...]"

Twilight fans, it is clear that Taylor Lautner owe you a lot! If he is still in the movie New Moon, it is not thanks to Chris Weitz or Stephenie Meyer (I doubt they really give a dam of the young boy). It's really to you all great fans of the Twilight saga.

New Moon Movie in November 2009

In October 2009, not even waiting for the official release of Twilight, the production company Summit Entertainment was already planning the movie New Moon, sequel to Twilight. They were right to be confident, after all, the first Twilight movie based on Stephenie Meyer's romantic vampire novel has been a huge success and still drives crowds in the theaters worldwide.

So now Summit Entertainment is working on New Moon, this second Twilight movie is based on the novel of the same name written by Stephenie Meyer. The draft for New Moon was indeed handed in by Rosenberg during the opening weekend of Twilight. But I think it will slightly deviate from the original plot because fans want to see Robert Pattinson badly... So Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) will probably have more time on screen than someone who read the book would have expected.


Synopsis / Plot:
"Bella Swan is devastated by the abrupt departure of her vampire love, Edward Cullen, but her spirit is rekindled by her growing friendship with Jacob Black. Suddenly she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of the vampires, and finds her loyalties tested." (summit Entertainment)

Of course Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson did sign on for the New Moon movie, actually they agreed to star in the whole Twilight saga! So Kristen Stewart reprises the role of Bella Swan, a teenage girl who falls in love with vampire Edward Cullen, who is still portrayed by Robert Pattinson.

But Director Catherine Hardwicke won't be making New Moon, she's been kicked out of the sequel to Twilight:

She's replaced by Director Chris Weitz (who directed American pie, About A Boy, The Golden Compass).

In New Moon Jacob Black, an old childhood friend of Bella's and a member of the Quileute tribe, is having a more important role: Bella and Taylor get closer and Taylor learns that he is a werewolf... Not sure that Taylor Lautner, who interpreted the role of Jacob Black in the first twilight movie, will play the part in New Moon: the young actor will most likely be replaced by a stronger and more mature actor.

Summit Entertainment is willing to put a lot of cash on the table now, so New Moon won't have the low-budget feel of Twilight. But Stephenie Meyer is the real guardian of her universe, I'm not worrying too much for the movie New Moon.

Let's get ready for a marvelous movie combining vampires, humans, werewolves and romance!
